katapult: a nice kde app that helps you to save time…
Maybe you have already heard about katapult or maybe you use it?
If not (and if you are a linux user), you may be interested…
Perhaps you have a kde or gnome menu with a lot of applications… You may think it is too much time to click on the menu, find the application among the big list (although the menu is rather organized, compared to what I remember of my MS Windows experience where I was feeling obliged to create by hand categories and to organize manually program shortcurts…).
But now, suppose you are able to remember just the name of the application (for example “konsole” or “vlc”)… With your memory and katapult, you won the right to launch it quickly and easilly.
For example, if you want to launch “konsole” (if katapult was launched), you may just have to type:
* [Alt]-[Espace] (keyboard shortcut for katapult)
* “kons” (without the quotes, just enough letters to view that katapult “understands” that you want to launch “konsole”, in fact it depends of others installed programs)
* [Enter] (that’s all…)
You can do the same with vlc, evolution, thunderbird or any other program you have in your menu…
You can use katapult as an easy to lauch calculator too…
And yes, you can use katapult with gnome too… (And you don’t need to be either a geek or a wizard to use it)
